Subclass 190 Nomination Tasmania

State Nomination from Tasmania for Skilled Nominated Subclass 190 visa provides you with five additional points towards meeting the Department of Home Affairs skilled visa points test pass mark of 65 points.

Tasmania 190 Visa Requirements

To be eligible for Visa 190 state nomination from Tasmania, you must meet the following requirements set out by the Department of Home Affairs for 'Skilled Nominated Subclass 190 Visa'.

You must have:

  • Not yet turned 45 years of age.
  • Nominated an occupation on the relevant list of eligible skilled occupations.
  • A valid and positive skills assessment for your nominated occupation.
  • At least ‘Competent’ English language proficiency.
  • At least 65 points on the Department of Home Affairs points test.

You will also need to meet the Tasmanian Government nomination requirements to be eligible for state nomination. There are different nomination pathways and each has different requirements and priority attributes that will determine your pass mark. Details of minimum requirements and priority attributes for each nomination pathway are as follows:

Subclass 190 Tasmanian Skilled Employment Pathway

For skilled migrants employed in their skill assessment area that is included on the Tasmanian Onshore Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) for at least the last six months in Tasmania.

Tasmania 190 Requirements

  • You must have been working in Tasmania for six months immediately prior to your 190 Visa Australia State nomination application. Your employment must average at least 20 hours per week over the six month period immediately prior to lodging your application.
  • You must currently be living in Tasmania and intend to continue living in Tasmania (your dependents must not be living in another Australian state or territory).
  • Your employment must be in an occupation listed on the Tasmanian Onshore Skilled Employment Occupation List (STSOL).
  • Your employment needs to be to be closely related to your nominated occupation (a skilled role within the same industry area as your skills assessment – see additional information and important definitions for guidance).
  • There must be a genuine, ongoing need for your position within the business (including a minimum 12-month contract with at least three months remaining at the time you apply for nomination).
  • If you are a subcontractor, you may be considered in this pathway if you have a related skills assessment and at least 12 months business activity in Tasmania.

Tasmania 190 Visa Requirements Employment and Conditions

  • Your employer must be a well-established business that has been actively operating in Tasmania for the past 12 months.
  • Your wages and conditions must be no less favorable than those that would apply to an Australian citizen or permanent resident, with salary or wages that are also equivalent to the market salary rate.
  • There must be a genuine, ongoing need for your position within the business (including a minimum 12-month contract with at least three months remaining at the time you apply for nomination). The contract may be casual, but must comply with the Fair Work Ombudsman’s National Employment Standards.

Tasmania 190 Visa Requirements Priority Attributes

The following attributes are used to rank Registrations of Interest for Visa 190 Australia state nomination applications, and only the most competitive candidates are invited to apply for nomination:

Gold Priority

  • You have a skills assessment and directly related employment for at least the past 3 months included in the critical roles list.

Green Priority

  • You have been employed in Tasmania for at least the last 6 months in an area directly related to your skills assessment.
  • You have been employed in Tasmania for at least the last 2 years in a role directly related to your skills assessment.
  • You have at least two years prior Australian experience in a skilled role (ANZSCO Skill Level 1-3) in the same industry as your skills assessment.
  • You are currently paid a base salary of at least $90 617 per year or $42.62 per hour (excluding overtime or casual loading).

Orange Priority

  • You have a qualification related to your current employment role (minimum Certificate III, not including online courses or qualifications gained on the basis of Recognition of Prior Learning).
  • You have lived in Tasmania for at least the past 2 years.
  • You speak Proficient / Superior English, or you have an exemption to the English language requirements based on your passport country.
  • Your spouse is employed in skilled role (ANZSCO 1-3) or has been running a business in Tasmania for the past 6 months.
  • Your spouse has completed a minimum AQF 6 qualification with a Tasmanian education provider in Tasmania.
  • Your spouse has lived in Tasmania for at least the last 6 months.
  • You have close family living in Tasmania including siblings, parents, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins or grandparents.

Subclass 190 Tasmanian Skilled Graduate Pathway

Subclass 190 Tasmania Requirements

Tasmanian Graduates who have completed at least two years full-time study with a Tasmanian CRICOS registered education provider can apply for Subclass 190 State Nomination by meeting the following eligibility criteria:

  • You must have completed a course of study and obtained a letter of completion from a tertiary institution in Tasmania registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).
  • You must have lived in the state for at least two calendar years from the commencement of your course and for the duration of your studies.
  • Your course of study must be AQF 5 (Diploma) or higher, or at least Certificate III related to an ANZSCO Major Group 3 or Group 4 occupation, and be listed on CRICOS with a duration of at least 92 weeks.
  • Your course must have been completed full-time and on-site in Tasmania.
  • You must currently be living in Tasmania and intend to continue living in Tasmania.

Tasmanian PhD candidates who have not completed an undergraduate degree in Tasmania are eligible in this pathway after living in Tasmania and completing at least two years of their PhD discipline in Tasmania.

Subclass 190 Visa Tasmania Requirements Priority Attributes

The following attributes are used to rank Registrations of Interest, and only the most competitive candidates are invited to apply for nomination:

Priority Gold

  • You have a skills assessment and directly related employment for at least the past 3 months included in the critical roles list.

Priority Green

  • You have been employed in Tasmania for at least the last 6 months in an ANZSCO 1-3 role directly related to your skills assessment.
  • You have been employed in Tasmania for at least the last 2 years in an ANZSCO 1-3 role directly related to your skills assessment.
  • You have completed 2 years of your PhD in Tasmania.
  • You have been employed in an ANZSCO 1-3 in Tasmania for at least the last 3 months directly related to your skills assessment or Tasmanian study.
  • You have operated a Tasmanian business for at least 6 months which is directly related to your skills assessment or area of study.
  • You have an offer for a graduate employment program. (Must be full-time, received before graduation, related to your skills assessment and be from a medium or large (with at least 20 employees) Tasmanian business that has been operating in Tasmania for more than 5 years.

Priority Orange

  • You have been employed in Tasmania for at least the last 6 weeks in the same industry as your skills assessment or Tasmanian study.
  • You have been employed in Tasmania for at least the last 3 months in an ANZSCO 1-3 role which is not related to your skills assessment.
  • You are employed in an ANZSCO 4-5 role and have a qualification related to this role (minimum Certificate III, not including online courses or qualifications gained on the basis of Recognition of Prior Learning).
  • You have evidence of job interviews with at least 2 well-established businesses that have been operating in Tasmania for at least 3 years for positions that are related to your skills assessment or study.
  • You are currently paid a base salary of at least $53 900 per year or 27.64 per hour (excluding overtime or casual loadings).
  • You are currently paid a base salary of at least $62 000 per year or $31.79 per hour (excluding overtime or casual loading).
  • You are currently paid a base salary of at least $90 617 per year or $42.62 per hour (excluding overtime or casual loading).
  • You have completed an in-course work placement of at least 400 hours (e.g., nursing, teaching, medicine, social work).
  • Your Tasmanian study is directly related to an occupation on the critical roles list.
  • You have commenced PhD studies in Tasmanian after completing undergraduate or postgraduate study in Tasmania.
  • You have lived in Tasmania for over 4 years.
  • You have not lived or studied in another part of Australia.
  • You speak Proficient / Superior English, or you have an exemption to the English language requirements based on your passport country.
  • Your spouse is employed in skilled role (ANZSCO 1-3) or has been running a business in Tasmania for the past 6 months.
  • Your spouse has completed a minimum AQF 6 qualification with a Tasmanian education provider in Tasmania.
  • Your spouse has lived in Tasmania for at least the last 6 months.
  • You have close family living in Tasmania including siblings, parents, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins or grandparents.

Subclass 190 Tasmanian Established Resident Pathway

Subclass 190 Tasmania Requirements

For skilled migrants who are employed and have lived in Tasmania for at least the last three years (with no more than 50 per cent of your total Australian residence period spent in another Australian state or territory), can apply for Skilled Nominated Subclass 190 state nomination. by meeting one of the following eligibility criteria:

  • Currently be employed in Tasmania in a role equivalent to ANZSCO Skill Levels 1-3, including a cumulative 12 out of the last 24 months, (a minimum 20 hours per week on average).
  • Currently be employed in Tasmania, including a cumulative 18 months in the last 3 years, in a role equivalent to ANZSCO Skill Level 4 or 5 (a minimum 20 hours per week on average).
  • Have operated a business for at least the last two years with taxable earnings equivalent to the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (currently $53,900).

Subclass 190 Visa Tasmania Requirements Priority Attributes

The following attributes are used to rank Registrations of Interest, and only the most competitive candidates are invited to apply for nomination:

Priority Gold

  • You have a skills assessment and directly related employment for at least the past 3 months included in the critical roles list.

Priority Green

  • You have been employed in Tasmanian for at least the last 3 months in a STSOL -listed role related to your skills assessment.
  • You have been employed in Tasmania for at least the last 2 years in a skilled role (ANZSCO 1-3) directly related to skills assessment.
  • You have been employed in Tasmania for at least the past 3 months in an ANZSCO 1-3 role directly related to your skills assessment.
  • You have a skills assessment which is directly related to your current business operation.
  • You have invested more than $200 000 into your current business operation.
  • Your business has generated more than $500 000 in past year.
  • Your business employs more than 10 local Australian citizens or permanent or provisional visa holders.
  • You are currently employed in a skilled role (ANZSCO 1-3) directly related to your skills assessment  and you have two years prior Australian industry experience relevant to your current employment.
  • You are currently paid a base salary of at least $90 617 per year or $42.62 per hour (excluding overtime or casual loading).

Priority Orange

  • You have been employed in Tasmania for at least the past 3 months in an ANZSCO 1-3 role in the same industry as your skills assessment.
  • You have been employed in Tasmania for at least the past 12 months in an ANZSCO 1-3 role which is not related to your skills assessment.
  • You are currently employed in a skilled role (ANZSCO 1-3) which is not directly related to your skills assessment and you have two years prior Australian industry experience relevant to your current employment.
  • You have a qualification related to your current role (minimum Certificate III. Does not include qualifications gained through online study or on the basis of recognition of prior learning).
  • You have operated your business in Tasmania for at least the last 2 years.
  • Your current employer has been operating in Tasmania for at least 5 years.
  • You have resided in Tasmania continuously for more than 4 years.
  • You have resided in Tasmania continuously for more than 5 years.
  • You are currently paid a base salary of at least $53 900 per year or 27.64 per hour (excluding overtime or casual loadings).
  • You are currently paid a base salary of at least $62 000 per year or $31.79 per hour (excluding overtime or casual loading).
  • You are currently paid a base salary of at least $90 617 per year or $42.62 per hour (excluding overtime or casual loading).
  • You speak Proficient / Superior English, or you have an exemption to the English language requirements based on your passport country.
  • Your spouse is employed in a skilled role (ANZSCO 1-3) or has been running a business in Tasmania for the past 6 months.
  • Your spouse has completed a minimum AQF 6 qualification with a Tasmanian education provider in Tasmania.
  • Your spouse has lived in Tasmania for at least the last 6 months.
  • You have close family living in Tasmania including siblings, parents, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins or grandparents.
