Lodgement Date for 189 Visa Hong Kong Stream

You must lodge the Subclass 189 Visa Australia in Hong Kong application on or after 5 March 2022.

You Must Have this Visa to Lodge Subclass 189 Hong Kong Stream Visa

You must hold an eligible visa at the time your Visa 189 Australia in the Hong Kong Stream application is made, and you must have held that visa for at least 4 years prior to that date. Multiple visas, including visas of the same subclass, cannot be combined to meet this requirement. An eligible visa is a subclass 457, subclass 482 or subclass 485 visa that was granted to you on the basis of satisfying the primary criteria.

If your eligible visa was granted before 9 July 2020, your visa must not expire after 8 July 2025.

If your eligible visa was granted on or after 9 July 2020, your visa must be valid for 5 years.

You must have been usually resident in Australia for a continuous period of at least 4 years immediately before the date of your application.   • You undertook your education at a primary school and at least 3 years of secondary school where all instruction was in English in or outside Australia; or
  • You undertook your education at a secondary school for atleast 5 years in or outside Australia where all instruction was in English; or
  • You undertook your education for at least 1 year of full time or part time equivalent study towards an award, at an institution in Australia where all instruction was in English; or
  • An average band score of at least 4.5 based on the 4 test components; or
  • A total band score of at least 32 based on the 4 test components of speaking, reading, writing and listening; or
  • A total band score of at least 30 based on the 4 test components; or
  • A total band score of at least 147 based on​ the 4 test components.
